A Romance with Revolution  //

A Romance with Revolution - an International Group Exhibition

The Russian Revolution had an incomparable positive effect on art of its time - and a bitter dawn. Convinced by the fact that any new societal order would trigger a substantial need for new artistic expression and vice versa - that any new artistic expression could necessarily evolve from the extinction of an existing order, artists basically used to be attracted by radical societal transformation. 100 years after the «Red October», the international group exhibition «A Romance with Revolution» raises the topic of fascination for riot, revolution and revolt as well as for the heritage and heirs, lessons and consequences from epochmaking changes. The exhibition includes works by 19 artists from 11 countries and is presented in Weimar and St. Petersburg. It is curated by Anastasia Patsey, director of the «Museum of Nonconformist Art», located in «Pushkinskaya-10», the independent cultural center of St. Petersburg founded in 1989.
