Concert for Families »Naftule and the Sorcerer's Apprentice«

A musical story between classical music and klezmer by Helmut Eisel · (world premiere)

Clarinetist Naftule has long been convinced that he can work magic with his music. But could he learn anything from a real magician? When the opportunity presents itself, he marches off - despite all the warnings of his skeptical companion Pino. Although the magic chief is on his way, his apprentice urgently needs help carrying water, and so Naftule joins forces with the little fellow and both eagerly try their hand at magic. And lo and behold, it works! But oh dear! The broom, now equipped with two legs and a head, toils diligently, but at some point it would be good - but no »Stand, stand!« can stop him and the ever higher surging floods of water. When the apprentice now unceremoniously knocks the broom in two, both parts even run off with double the energy. Who can help? Pino? Nope... The conductor? He already has enough to do with taming the wild orchestra! And what about the audience...?

Helmut Eisel's creative Klezmer story around Goethe's famous ballad is the perfect complement to the reading in German classes, but of course it also works purely as a concert. Definitely the most unusual interpretation of the classic that we have ever come across!
