Your First Memory

Zweiteiliges Ballett von Bryan Arias mit Musik von Yanick Herzog

Guest performance of the Landestheater Eisenach

Memory arises in the body. The human brain binds new memories of everyday events every day. From a chain of events, episodic memories of a spatial and temporal sequence of events thus emerge. In this way we shape our reality, while these memories in turn shape us and determine the way we interact with our environment. This is where the work of choreographer Bryan Arias comes in, whose choreography with the Basel Ballet Ensemble already thrilled audiences during the Eisenach Ballet Week: the connection of bodies in the shared experience of time and space makes it possible to leave subjective feeling behind in favour of a collective experience. In this "dream-space", which he opens with his choreography, Arias also involves the audience, who, together with the dancers, embark on a journey into the landscapes of the interior.

Yanick Herzog's music is created in close collaboration with Bryan Arias: musical sketches form the starting point, enter into a dialogue with the dancers' bodies and form a composition in which an echo chamber of shared reflection is created.
